STUDENT ACCOUNT  -  GENERAL INFO

What is a student account?

Students participating in Music Department/RMPA fundraising sales and events, earn credit for their sales/participation.  Amount earned is credited and held in their own student account.  Various fundraising sales and events are offered throughout the school year as an opportunity to help pay toward the cost of their trips and events held by the Music Department.

How much can students earn?

Profits are shared  with a portion credited to the student’s account, and a portion to RMPA depending on the type of fundraising sale or fundraising event.  Allocation depends on the sale/event, but is usually based on a percentage of the net profit (60% student/40% RMPA; 40% student/60% RMPA; 100% student; hourly rate, or $ per fruit box sold & delivered)   For events (band contest, bands in round, silent auction, community day), if credit is offered, a  Student Sign Up Sheet for the specific event will indicate how credit will be earned or if by volunteer basis only.  Note:  RMPA’s portion of the profit is used to cover approved budgeted operating expenses including: uniforms; instruments; equipment; awards; contest costs; food & refreshments; and many more.  Participating in fundraising not only helps the student earn credit toward trips, but also helps to provide for the many needs and extras for the students.

Graduating and have a balance in your student account?

The amount earned by each student is credited and held in their own student account.  If any credit balance remains when a student graduates or leaves the music program, any credit remaining reverts back to RMPA.  A parent may request the remaining credit balance be transferred to another student of the same family (ie. brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister) currently in the program or one that will be coming in the following year.  Refer to Music Parents page as outlined in the constitution-bylaws.

What is the balance in my student account?

Students are assigned a number.  Below is summary of student credit balance.

COMMUNITY DAY “MUSIC BOOTH”

(2007-08 Credits)

Students sign up to help with the concession booth selling slushies, pizza, etc.  The sign-in/out sheet logs the hours worked by each student.  Fifty percent (50%) of the net profits from the booth, after paying the cost of food/supplies/drinks,  are allocated to the students in the form of credit to their student account.  The 50% net profit is allocated among the participating students based on their proportionate share of hours worked.

{example:  If net profit is $200, fifty percent, $100,  is allocated to the students based on their proportionate share of hours worked.  If 2 students work where Student #1 works 2 hours, and Student #2 works 4 hours;  Student #1 would earn $33 (2/6 = 33% x $100);  Student #2 earns $67 (4/6 = 67% x $100).}

TAG DAYS

(2007-08 Credits)

For all students participating in tag days, 40% of the total collected by all routes that day will be divided equally among all participating students..  If  your route only collects $100 and another route collects $500, each student will earn the same credit for their participation.  It’s a group activity and everyone shares in the success of the group.

{example:  If total collections for all routes turned in on tag day is $10,000; $4,000 ($10.,000 x 40%) will be divided evenly among all participating students.  If 75 students participated, each student will receive a $53.33 credit to their individual student account ($4,000 / 75)

FRUIT SALE

(2007-08 Credits)

Amount earned depends on type of fruit boxes sold AND delivered as follows:

· $4 credit per box - large box or sampler sold & delivered

· $2 credit per box - small oranges, grapefruits, tangelos, pineapples sold & delivered.

If orders are not delivered, no credit will be awarded for the sale.  Fruit must be both sold AND delivered before student can receive credit for the sale.  This is necessary to ensure all fruit ordered is delivered to avoid last minute scrambling to move the boxes from the temporary loading area and to the customer to ensure a fresh product.

FROZEN FOOD & ROOT CANDLE SALE

(2007-08 Credits)

Amount earned  is as follows and must be both sold AND delivered:

· Students earn 40% of the net profit (sales - cost 60%) for their ROOT Candle sales;

· Students earn 40% of the net profit (sales - cost 65%) for their Frozen Food sales.

{example candles:  If student sells $100 in candle sales; student will earn $16.  ($100 sales - $60 cost = $$40 net profit x 40% = $16)}

{example frozen food:  If student sells $100 in frozen food sales; student will earn $14 of student credit.

($100 sales - $65 cost = $35 net profit x 40%  = $14)}

If orders are not delivered, no credit will be awarded for the sale.  Food & Candle orders must be both sold AND delivered before student can receive credit for the sale.  This is necessary to ensure all frozen food ordered is delivered to avoid last minute scrambling to move the boxes from the temporary loading area and to the customer to ensure a fresh product.
